Woobay was born and raised in Sierra Leone's second largest city of Bo to parents from the Mende ethnic group. As a young star he was
nicknamed Gibay by his childhood friends and fellow footballers in Bo Town. He is a graduate of the Bo Government Secondar School (commonly known as Bo School), one of the elite secondary schools in Sierra Leone.Football career
