Lisa Holton (born March 15, 1959) is an American business writer and author and a former Business Editor of the "
Chicago Sun-Times ". Since 1998, she has been principal of The Lisa Company, a writing, editing and research firm based in Evanston, IL. Holton serves corporate, college, nonprofit and editorial clients, and her writing has been featured in such national magazines as "Corporate Board Member", "American Demographics", "the ABA Journal", "Working Mother" and "REALTOR" magazine. She is the author or editor of 11 books, including "For Members Only: A History and Guide to Chicago’s Private Clubs" (Lake Claremont Press) and "The Encyclopedia of Financial Planning (FPA Press)."Early life
Holton is the daughter of Archie Wilder Holton and Anna Cherepavich Holton, both deceased. Born in Moline, Illinois, Holton lived in the Quad Cities until the age of four when her father, an executive with International Harvester Co., was transferred to Canton, the small central Illinois town that inspired Holton’s screenplay "The Plant," a 2002 quarterfinalist for the [http://www.oscars.org/nicholl/index.html Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Nicholl Fellowship.] The family moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 1969. Holton joined the "Chicago Sun-Times" as an intern after graduating from Northwestern and was hired full-time at the paper three months later. In her 15 years at the paper, she covered a variety of beats including banking, personal finance and retailing. She served as assistant business editor and business editor during her tenure. In 1996, she left the paper to join a division of Thomson Media as an editor of a startup banking publication and resigned in late 1997 to start The Lisa Company.
