- Ruedi Aebersold
Rudolf Aebersold (better known as Ruedi Aebersold) is a Swiss biologist, regarded as a pioneer in the fields of
proteomics andsystems biology . Prof. Aebersold has primarily researched techniques for measuringproteins in complex samples, in many cases viamass spectrometry . He is probably best known as one of the inventors of theIsotope-Coded Affinity Tag (ICAT) technique for proteomics, a technique for measuring the relative quantities of proteins in one sample relative to another sample by using tags containing stable isotopes of different masses.Prof. Aebersold is Professor of Systems biology at the [http://www.imsb.ethz.ch/ Institute of Molecular Systems Biology] , [http://www.ethz.ch/ Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zürich] (ETH Zürich). He was one of the founders of the
Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle, Washington, and also has a lab group at this institution. In recognition of Dr. Aebersold’s outstanding contribution to the field of protein sciences and proteomics the
Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF ) has selected him for the ABRF 2008 Award to be presented at the national meeting in Salt Lake City.External links
