Lemuel Cook (
September 10 ,1759 –May 20 ,1866 ) was the last verifiable survivingveteran of theAmerican Revolutionary War . Enlisting in theContinental Army at the age of sixteen, he fought in theVirginia campaign againstCharles Cornwallis , receiving an honorable discharge signed byGeorge Washington onJune 12 ,1784 .After the war, Cook married Hannah Curtis. They had seven sons and three daughters. Cook died at the age of 106 and was buried with full military and masonic honors.
He was the last survivor of
