April 25 ,1917 -July 16 ,2001 ) was aMajor League Baseball pitcher . The 6'2", 195 lb. right-hander appeared in two games for the Boston Braves at the end of the 1943 season. The 26-year-oldrookie was a native ofMagnolia, Ohio .Dagenhard is one of many ballplayers who only appeared in the major leagues during
World War II . He made hismajor league debut on September 28, 1943 and pitched scoreless relief in a doubleheader against theSt. Louis Cardinals atSportsman's Park .His next and last game was his best. On October 3, 1943 he was the
starting pitcher in the second game of a doubleheader against theChicago Cubs atWrigley Field . It was the last game of the season. He pitched acomplete game and the Braves won, 5-2. Both runs were unearned. In 11 totalinnings over two games he gave up just 9 hits and 4 walks. His season and career record was 1-0 with an ERA of 0.00.Dagenhard died at the age of 84 in
