- Liceum ogólnokształcące
Liceum Ogólnokształcące is the Polish high school. They are attended by those who plan to attend university or who do not have any desire to pursue a specialized career (see below).
At the end of Polish liceum students are subject to a final exam called
matura . The matura is preceded by a traditional ball calledstudniówka .Polish liceums are attended by children ages from 16 to 19 or 21 (see list below).
There are liceums all over Poland. Polish liceums are divided into several types:
*General Liceum (16-19)
*Specialized Liceum (16-19)
*Supplementary Liceum (18-21)Technikums
There are other schools (known as technikums) across Poland designed for those who do not intend or are unable to attend university. The following are some types of technikums:
*Technikum Ceramiczne - Secondary Technical School of ceramics/earthenware (very few if any remaining in the 21st century)
