Raksi

Raksi

Raksi (रक्शी) is a traditional distilled alcoholic beverage in Tibet and Nepal. Raksi can be made from rice and its taste is similar to Japanese sake. Raksi can also be made from kodo or millet, and the different grains produce different flavors. [ [http://www.globalgourmet.com/destinations/nepal/nepalliq.html Nepal: Liquor] ]

erving

Raksi is often served in a bhatti glass.

During special occasions, the drink is poured from a great height via a pitcher with a small spout, making an entertaining spectacle.

Production

Raksi is produced, sold and mostly consumed at rustic distilleries scattered around the countryside. Usually it is not aged before consumption. A large amount of wood is used in the distillation process. [ [http://www.natureinterface.com/e/ni03/P070-073/ Terraced Fields and Natural Disasters in Nepal] ]
