31 May 1879 -8 March 1948 ) was an Englishcricketer who played 24 first-class games for Kent and Worcestershire around the turn of the twentieth century.Hutchings played two
County Championship matches for Kent in 1899, against Gloucestershire and Nottinghamshire, but managed only 31 runs in two innings and was swiftly dropped from the side.He did not reappear in first-class cricket until 1905, when he played ten times for Worcestershire, holding 11 catches and scoring 407 runs in the Championship at 29.07, including three half-centuries. The highest of these was the second-innings 85 he hit against his old county in July; this certainly saved Worcestershire from defeat as when time ran out they were 203/9, still 160 in arrears. He played twelve times the following season, but was less successful, averaging under 20 and passing fifty only once.
Hutchings was born in Southborough,
Kent ; he died at The Mount,Prees ,Shropshire .His brother Kenneth played seven times for England and over 160 times for Kent, while another brother, Frederick, and an uncle,
Edward Colebrooke , played a handful of first-class matches apiece.External links
