1998 , thePennsylvania State University launched its 25th campus of the University: 'Penn State World Campus'. The World Campus is "Penn State Online" and offers more than 50distance education online degree and certificate programs to learners around the world. Penn State was one of the pioneers of distance education when it launched a correspondence study program to remote farmers in1892 .
