Tibetan red deer

The Tibetan red deer ("Cervus affinis affinis") or ("Cervus affinis wallichi") also known as shou is a subspecies of Central Asian Red Deer that is native to the Tibetan highlands of Central Asia.

Description

This deer is similar to the Kashmir stag, but is larger with more massive antlers. The beam bends forward at the bez tine so that the antlers have a forward sweep. The coat color is usually speckled light brown with a small rump patch, which includes the tail. This deer, along with Sichuan deer are amongst the largest subspecies of Central Asian Red Deer.

Range

This deer lives in Bhutan and Southern Tibet.
