Terror Squad is a hip hop crew and a record label from The Bronx, New York that was first established in 1998 on a song in the album "Don Cartagena" by its lead vocalist Fat Joe.Birchmeier, Jason. [http://wc06.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:dvfrxqtjldse~T1 Terror Squad biography] . Allmusic: 2006] They released their eponymous debut, "Terror Squad", in 1999, with its first major hit "Whatcha Gon' Do", credited mostly to Big Pun, who died of a heart attack in 2000. After Big Pun's death, his longtime partners Cuban Link and Triple Seis left the group and were subsequently replaced by Remy Martin and Tony Sunshine.

As the group was on hiatus following Pun's death, most of its former members fell into obscurity, with Fat Joe having the most successful solo career among all the former members. The group reunited and released their second album, "True Story", in 2004. It included the summer club hit "Lean Back," produced by Scott Storch, which peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and 24 in the UK. A remix to "Lean Back" featured Lil Jon, Mase and Eminem was released on Fat Joe's 2005 album "All or Nothing". Although the album failed to spawn other hit singles, Fat Joe and Remy, who contributed the vocals to "Lean Back", went on to release high-selling solo albums in 2006.Terror Squad crew have changed their line-up, leader Fat Joe revealed. With the exit of Remy Ma, Armageddon, and Prospect, after their second album, 'True Story', was released in 2004, the rap group added O.Z. from Miami, H-Mob and The Leader.

Apart from the three new members, DJ Khaled and Cool & Dre are retained as regular crew along with Tony Sunshine. "That's it. That's the crew," Joe revealed to MTV's Mixtape Monday.

Joe also unveiled some of the reasons why the three old members are no longer in their list. "Remy Ma, obviously, she's not down no more," Joe said. "The problem with her (is) we're hot. She don't wanna be down. Everything is a grind." While in Armageddon and Prospect case, Joe claimed that he no longer meets them to make new music and therefore was forced to "let them go".

Now signed to Koch Records Terror Squad is set to release a new album, tentatively titled "A New Story", in 2008. [ [http://www.boombox.co.uk/shownews.asp?id=2237 Terror Squad Sign New Deal With Koch Records] . Boombox.co.uk: Oct. 23, 2007] Tony Sunshine also left the group as said in his myspace blog.

Conflicts

G-Unit

50 Cent pointed out that Fat Joe painted a target on himself for partnering up with Ja Rule in a song where Ja Rule insulted 50 Cent. 50 Cent recorded the track "Piggy Bank" in which he attacked Fat Joe. Fat Joe responded with a track entitled "My FoFo" Which was originally named and leaked on to the internet as "Fuck 50" but was changed for his album. Although Fat Joe said at the end of "My FoFo" and in interviews that he would not respond in his music again and would prefer 50 Cent had him a fist fight, he made one more track, "Massacre of Fifty" which never appeared on any of his albums but leaked over the internet around the same time as his "All or Nothing" album was released. It was eventually released in 2007 on his mixtape "The Crack Era" with the new name "We Ridin" along with other unreleased material. Although the song "Victim" from his album "All or Nothing" where "My FoFo" is featured, sounds to be an attack on 50 or Jay-Z it has been confirmed by Fat Joe that it isn't and that the song is aimed at "whoever thinks it is aimed at them" [ [http://www.mtv.com/bands/m/mixtape_monday/092704 "Victim" track aimed at anyone] . MTV.com Mixtape Monday] . 50 Cent and Tony Yayo took more shots at him on "I Run NY". Even though things died down, at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards, Fat Joe, as he was announcing the next award said "I feel so safe tonight thanks to all the police protection courtesy of G Unit" which related to his lyrical accusations that 50 Cent is a "snitch".YouTube|DTTg1ilOuxg|G-Unit and Fat Joe Controversy at 2005 VMAS, Youtube, Accessed 25 July 2007] 50 Cent and Tony Yayo retaliated on set later in the show at the end of their performance by shouting obscenities towards Fat Joe and Terror Squad, which were censored by MTV. Tony Yayo and 50 Cent both claimed Fat Joe exited the building straight after the show to avoid confrontation with them but this has never been confirmed. Also, Pistol Pete (a non-rapping member of Terror Squad) appeared on The Game's "Stop Snitchin, Stop Lyin" DVD and disrespected Tony Yayo, Chris Lighty (owner of Violator Records whom had ties with 50 Cent [ [http://www.violator.com/artist_detail/?artist_id=50_cent 50 Cent affiliated with Violator Records] . Violator Records. Accessed July 17 2007] ), and James Cruz (50 Cent's manager) and claims he chased Tony Yayo near a jewelry store. Lloyd Banks, Spider Loc, and Young Buck have also been insulting Fat Joe. In 2007, the feud was continued in interviews and by affiliates from both parties. [Johnson, Dick (June 15 2007). Accessed June 21 2007.] The feud has begun once again in 2008 with songs as videos being released from both parties.

Kill All Rats Mafia, a group affiliated with the Terror Squad consisting of Pistol Pete, Mike Beck, Rob Cash, Onez, Leader, Suge White and others, have released a mixtape diss called "Gay Unit Volume 1" to G-Unit because G-Unit recently released a mixtape dissing Terror Squad. March 28, 2008, KAR Mafia made a diss track to G-Unit again, this time including Fat Joe on the hook. Kill All Rats Mafia are signed to KOCH records. Their debut album will be released in Jan 2009 and is entitled "Pistol Pete presents K.A.R" It will be executive produced by Fat Joe. Their first single entitled "They Hatin Me Man" featuring DJ Khaled and Dre from Cool n Dre is currently being played on urban radio throughout the country.
