The first record of "
Mueang " Lom found in the first KingRamkhamhaeng the Great stone pillar. In Rattanakosin era, this area was a big community ofLao people fromVientiane . When the town population grew due to further immigration fromLuang Phrabang and Vientiane, the governor lead people to establish a new town near thePa Sak river , now in the Lom Sak district.Geography
Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise) Dan Sai and Phu Ruea of
Loei Province and Nam Nao, Lom Sak and Khao Kho of Phetchabun Province.Administration
The district is subdivided into 9 subdistricts ("
tambon "), which are further subdivided into 98 villages ("muban "). The township ("thesaban tambon ") of Lom Kao covers part of the "tambon" Lom Kao. There are further 9 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).
