Robert Tell (born
April 4 1937 ) is an Americanauthor ,poet ,publisher and speaker. He lives inFarmington Hills, Michigan and winters inBoynton Beach, Florida . He was born and raised inBrooklyn, New York and was educated inPublic Health and English at Columbia and Long Island universities.In his pre-writing career, Tell held senior management positions at hospitals in
New York ,New Jersey , Kansas City andDetroit . He was also a health policy specialist at an urban health planning agency, and helduniversity teaching appointments as aprofessor ofhealth policy and planning. Tell was also the owner of ahuman resource consulting firm specializing in thehealth care industry . He sold this business in 1998 to devote himself towriting .Tell is a member of the
Detroit Working Writers , a century-old writer's group with membership restricted to published authors. He has writtenpoetry ,fiction andnon-fiction , including manymagazine articles, and a trade newspaper column—and has been invited to read his work at a variety of venues. He has recently completed his firstnovel .Tell’s first published book is "Dementia Diary", a semi-autobiographical memoir describing his mother’s sixteen year decline into the fog of
dementia and his role as her caregiver. This book has received much praise from experts in thelong-term care community and has been accepted into the catalogue of the Farmington Hills, Michigan public library.Tell is married to the former Elaine Fritz and the couple has three adult children and five grandsons.
