Marquette University , where he earnedAll-America honors as a junior in 1972 after averaging 20.5 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. He left school at the end of that season to pursue a professional career, first in theAmerican Basketball Association (ABA) and later in theNational Basketball Association . Chones won an NBA Championship as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers in 1980, and he retired from basketball in 1982 with combined ABA/NBA totals of 9,821 points and 6,427 rebounds.Chones currently serves as a recreation league director in
Bedford Heights, Ohio . He has also been active in the Cleveland Urban Youth Education Initiative, and he has been writing a collection of short stories based on his life.External links
