Benito Cereno (writer)

"For the short story by Herman Melville, see Benito Cereno."

Benito Cereno is the pen name for Jamie Groover. He is a writer of comic books. To date, his only full-length work is 2004's "Tales From the Bully Pulpit", but he is also known for his backup strips in early issues of Robert Kirkman's comic book "Invincible". These backups were illustrated by Nate Bellegarde, and included such characters as the Deep-Fried Monkey, Deep-Fried Pirate, and pseudo-autobiographical versions of the duo themselves.

Along with Bellegarde, Benito Cereno created the supernatural investigator Hector Plasm. A compilation of short stories from both "Western Tales of Terror" and" Invincible" were re-printed in 2006 as "".
