Holger Börner (
7 February 1931 ndash2 August 2006 ) was a German politician of theSPD . He wasMinister-President ofHesse from 1976 until 1987. As such he served as President of the Bundesrat in 1986/87, but only served until theLandtag elections of 24 April 1987In 1984, he and his SPD lost the majority in the
Landtag . He managed to implement the firstMinister (government) in Germany and was reelected even if he had promised in advance never to work with the green party. In this administrationJoschka Fischer was the first green party minster in Germany.Afterwards, until 2003, he was chairman of the ', the Friedrich Ebert Foundation"', also known as (FES). The FES is a private, non-profit organization committed to the principles and values of social democracy. FES was established in 1925 to honor the legacy of
Friedrich Ebert , Germany's first democratically elected President.The Foundation supports education, research, and international cooperation from its offices inBonn andBerlin and through branch offices in more than 90 countries.
