John Rinaldi is a minister and
veteran who ran for Congress inCalifornia in2006 .Born in
Fairfax, Virginia about 1968. Rinaldi graduated with a Bachelors degree inPhilosophy andPolitical Science fromMount Saint Mary's University inEmmitsburg, Maryland . During and after college, he served as a sworn city police officer inOcean City, Maryland . He began graduate theological studies in order to become an ordained minister. DuringDesert Storm , he served as a commissioned officer in theUnited States Naval Reserve and came toSan Diego, California .Upon completion of his military service, Rinaldi returned to police work for a time and then taught high school in
West Virginia . During this time, he completed his Master studies in Divinity in preparation for ordination. He returned to San Diego in 1993, and has made San Diego his permanent home serving his church as full time minister for five years, then as an associate minister while pursuing business interests.He has worked as a stock broker, investment banker, as a mortgage banker, and as a real estate agent.
Rinaldi received the 2006 Democratic Nomination for California's 52nd District Congressional race against incumbent
Duncan Hunter . He was defeated by a 33-point margin in the election.External links
