"Lies" was the second single from En Vogue's debut album "Born to Sing". "Lies" was the band's second top 40 single in the US, as well as their second number-one R&B single. It is the first song in which all four members sing separately (though Dawn leads the song with Cindy doing the bridge). This is also the first black and white video En Vogue created. "Give It Up, Turn It Loose" was also shot in Black and White.

The song discusses how lies can become the beginning of the end for a lot of people (politicians, teachers, preachers)and how they are just a waste of time because truth always comes to light. This song sent a very positive message to America while the Cold War was on the downside in 1990.huh

The song is led by Dawn Robinson & Cindy Herron. It also features Debbie T. on the rapping.
