Start is an unincorporated community in Richland Parish, Louisiana, in the United States.

Start is the hometown of country superstar Tim McGraw.

Geography

Start is located at coor dms|32|29|11|N|91|51|33|W|city (32.48639, -91.85917)GR|1. It is adjacent to the communities of Crew Lake to the East, Girard to the West, Oak Ridge to the North, and Alto to the South.

Community

Start is a small community and mainly consists of farmland. The town itself has several churches, The Start Mart, Start In-and-Out, homes, Whitten Barber Shop, a video store, and the Start Fire Departments. [http://www.funinlouisiana.com/photogallery/Start%20Fire%20003.jpg]

[http://www.richland.k12.la.us/schools/ses Start Elementary School] , which is operated by the Richland Parish School Board, is located in the community and serves students in grades kindergarten through eight.
