List of schools reclassifying their athletic programs to NCAA Division I

The following United States colleges and universities are in the process of reclassifying their athletic programs to NCAA Division I. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) passed a 4-year moratorium on schools beginning the reclassification to Division I.fact|date=June 2008 Therefore, no other schools can begin the process until 2012.

Atlantic Sun Conference

* Florida Gulf Coast University, joining Division I in 2011
* University of South Carolina Upstate, joining Division I in 2011

Big South Conference

* Presbyterian College, joining Division I in 2011

Great West Conference

* University of North Dakota, joining Division I in 2012
