Zviazda ( _be. Звязда, IPA2|zʲvʲa'zda, literally: "The Star") is a
state-owned daily newspaper inBelarus .It was founded in 1917 as an organ of the
Minsk Committee ofRSDLP(b) .Zviazda has been twice closed down by the
Russian Provisional Government but continued being published under different names. At some periods of theWorld War I and thePolish-Soviet war Zviazda was printed inSmalensk .Since August 1927 the newspaper is printed in
Belarusian language only and is nowadays the largest Belarusian language media inBelarus as well as one of the last Belarusian-speaking media.During
World War II remaining communists tried to publish the newspaper illegally on the territory ofNazi -occupied Belarus.From
July 10 ,1944 Zviazda is published inMinsk . Till 1991 it was an official newspaper of theCommunist Party of Belarus and the Communist parliament and government of Belarus. During the Soviet era, the paper received theOrder of the Great Patriotic War and theOrder of the Red Banner of Labor .External links
