Moons of Ida (Xanth)

The Moons of Ida are part of the plot from Piers Anthony science fiction and fantasy literature. Xanth is a fictional world in the novels of Piers Anthony. Princess Ida is a character in the series. A small moon named Ptero orbits Princess Ida. On the moon are all the characters who exist, will exist, or might exist. This corresponds with her talent of Idea.

Geography

On Ptero, time is geography; traveling east, or To, causes you to become older; going west, or From, causes you to become younger. Traveling north or south increases or decreases the temperature, respectively. People can travel to any age EXCEPT the age their self currently is on Xanth.

Other than time traveling, Ptero is similar to Xanth, having the same landmarks.

Comic strips

Another feature of Ptero are comic strips; long strips of land full of puns. While most puns are harmless, some are very dangerous. Comic strips are often avoided whenever possible, although every trip to Ptero shown in the books usually has one.

Other moons

In addition to Ptero, there are an infinite number of moons orbiting the Idas of their respective planets. A few examples include Dragon World, which is in the shape of an oreuborus and where all inhapitants are dragons, Dumbbell, where all the residents are fitness freaks, and Zombie World, where everything is zombified; incidentally, Zombie World is currently the residence of the Zombie Master and Millie the Ghost.

Trivia

Ptero was named by a Mundane girl; she had heard of the moon Dactyl, and assumed it made sense to name this moon Ptero (as in pterodactyl).
