Plot

Tommy Fawkes (Oliver Platt) is the failed comic son of a famous comic father, George Fawkes (Jerry Lewis). After failing big in Las Vegas, he returns to Blackpool, England, where he spent his summers as a child. His intention is to seek out unique performers (who have the gift of humour that he lacks) and purchase their acts from them so he can return to the US and become the success he thinks his father (the great comic legend) wants him to be. He discovers his father's old partners, from whom his father learned everything he knew, as well as a brillliant younger comic Jack (Lee Evans), who truly is naturally gifted.
