nihongo|"Wild Arms XF"|ワイルドアームズ クロスファイア|Wairudo Āmuzu Kurosufaia|pronounced "Wild Arms Crossfire" is the first game in the "Wild Arms" series in development for the PlayStation Portable. The game was unveiled at a Media.Vision fan event on September 2, 2006 and was released in Japan in 2007. It was also revealed that save data from "Wild Arms 5" can be transferred to "Wild ARMs XF" game through a USB. In "Wild ARMs XF" players will be able to obtain more items and reward money on top of access to higher grades and a special event scene. In "Wild Arms 5" six new boss battles are unlocked. A North American version of the game was released on March 11th, 2008. [1]

Plot

The game's story centers around a group of knights called Chevalet Blanc and how the protagonist and her knights take back the kingdom of Elesius, which is being controlled by the Council of Elder Statesmen. The Princess Royal of the kingdom died in an accident, and the king is too ill to rule, which brought about the rise of the council. Like other "Wild Arms" titles, this takes place on the dying planet Filgaia, this time where the remaining natural resources, food, land and financial assets, are at the center of continued armed confrontations. Despite this, Elesius is one of the few peaceful places on Filgaia.

Gameplay

"Wild ARMs XF" is a 2D tactical role-playing game that uses a hexagonal grid battlefield. Before battle begins, the player can gather important pieces of information by looking at Labyrinthia's "Direct Event Report". This report will informs the player about the current status, the forecast future status, and conditions for victory. Battles are now turn-based. A character's turn will be determined by a stat known as Reaction Points, and will differ from battle to battle. If the player succeeds in executing an uninterrupted series of commands, the damage inflicted upon enemies will increase significantly. On the other hand, if the enemy manages to land a series of consecutive moves, the damage taken by the player's party will increase. Combination Arts akin to those in previous "Wild Arms" games will come into play. The game features six acts and over 16 classes.

Characters

Clarissa Arwin: The leader of Chevalet Blanc who wields an unusual gun-like weapon named Strahl Gewehr. She is swept up into a political war when she and Felius travel to the Kingdom of Elesius to retrieve her mother's sword from Rupert. Clarissa is very cheerful and abhors lying. For the first half of the game, she is mistaken for Princess Alexia, due to their striking resemblance.

Alexia Lynn Elesius: The Princess Royal of the Kingdom of Elesius, rumored to be dead after a landslide at some mountain. She shared her father's ideals for a royalty which would unite with the people to triumph over hardships rather than conquer other lands. This proved to be the driving factor in her assassination at the hands of the Council.

Felius Arwin: A silent, blue-haired man clad in black, he has vowed to protect Clarissa and never leave her side.

Labyrinthia Wordsworth: Formerly the royal court magician, she is very intelligent. Although she was a commoner, because of King Hrathnir's reforms, she was able to acquire an education and ascend using her talent and intelligence. She was branded a terrorist when Clarissa and Felius met her.

Levin Brenton: A young boy of House Brenton: the nobility in charge of the protection of the kingdom. Levin is overjoyed when he hears 'Princess Alexia' is alive and breaks free from his father to support her. Voiced by Bryce Papenbrook in English.

Ragnar Blitz Lebrett: A mercenary with a formal way of speaking despite his rough appearance. He holds a deep hatred for Elesius which destroyed his life and everything important thrice. He is the one who cooks, cleans, and sews in the group.

Tony: A white, crossbreed dog. He is the only character that is unable to change classes.
