Morterone is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Lecco in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 50 km northeast of Milan and about 7 km northeast of Lecco. For its population of 38 persons, was considered, relevant the resident population, the smaller of any comune (municipality) in Italy – in an area of 13.8 km².^[1] The fact that few couples decided to become resident, and have there children produced the effect to lose this record and the position passed to the comune (municipality) of Pedesina with 33 persons.
