artist , known for hisportrait s of athletes and celebrities. Holland's most famous paintings have been ofMuhammad Ali . Together they have released numerous limited edition prints, most of which are sold out.As a young painter, Holland could not afford to hire live models. The images he found in
boxing magazines became his subjects. Holland attended The School of Industrial Arts (now called School of Art and Design), which devoted half of each day to art studies. Later, he attendedPratt Institute , the Art Students League and the School of Visual Arts, all in New York City. Holland's contributions to art and sports received national recognition in 1993, when theAmerican Sport Art Museum and Archives awarded him the honor of Sports Artist of the Year. Other honors include being the Official Artist of theLos Angeles Kings and being one of the twelve artists selected by the United States Olympic Committee to represent the 100th Anniversary of the Olympics. He completed eleven paintings for the Baltimore Ravens' Walk of Fame, commemorating their path of victory toSuper Bowl XXXV . In 2008, his art will commemorate the year-long celebration of theL.A. Dodgers ' 50 years in Los Angeles.References
