The Prix Eugène Adam is a Group 2 flat horse race in France open to three-year-old thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 2,000 metres (approximately 1¼ miles) at Maisons-Laffitte Racecourse, and it takes place annually in July.

It was first run in 1893 at its present venue and was originally titled the Prix Monarque. This was in honour of the racehorse Monarque, winner of the 1855 Prix du Jockey Club and later the sire of Gladiateur. In 1903 the title was changed to the Prix du Président de la République. It was only run once with this name – the following year a new race (which has since become the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud) took this title, so this event reverted to the name Prix Monarque. From its launch until 1910 the race was usually run on a straight track, the only exception being in 1905, when it took place on a right-handed course.

The race was given its present title in 1911, a name previously used for what is now the Prix Exbury. This was in memory of Eugène Adam (1840–1904), a co-founder and president of the "Société Sportive d'Encouragement", an organisation which owned Maisons-Laffitte Racecourse. From this point the race was regularly run on the right-hand track.

Due to World War I the Prix Eugène Adam was abandoned from 1915 to 1918. The only subsequent cancellation was during World War II in 1940. Also during this period, in 1944, there was a temporary change of venue to Auteuil. At this racecourse it was contested over a slightly longer distance of 2,100 metres. After the war in 1946 the race was transferred to a new long-term home, Saint-Cloud, a left-handed course.

The Prix Eugène Adam returned to Maisons-Laffitte in 1998. It has remained here with the exceptions of 2000 and 2001, when it was run at Deauville. For the first time since its days as the Prix Monarque, the race returned to the straight track in 2005. Presently the event is also known as the Grand Prix de Maisons-Laffitte.
