reservoir on the East Fork ofTwelvepole Creek in Wayne County,West Virginia . The lake was approved by congress in 1938 after the devastating flood of 1937 but was not constructed until 1970 by theU.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the purposes of flood control, recreation, and fish and wildlife management. Its name was officially designated by Congress in 1971. Construction of the lake resulted in the destruction of the town ofStiltner, West Virginia at the mouth of Brush Creek. The town was home to approximately 200 residents at its height. The lake is home to all species of fish indigenous to southern West Virginia as well as Carp and other invading species. The lake is also supplied with fish through the use of on site fish hatcheries. The lake has wake and no wake zones making it popular for both fishing and water skiing. The shore line is also surrounded by many camp sites which are maintained by the State.External links
