Penicuik Rugby Club is a rugby football club in the Scottish Rugby Union, playing their home games at Public Park, Penicuik, currently competing in the newly formed East League Division One.

Founded in 1924, Pencuik has a fine tradition of being one of the friendliest clubs in the Edinburgh area.

The Club fields regularly two XVs in competitive leagues. The club is captain Jamie Thorne, though undoubtledly their star players are gifted stand off Steven Cunningham, centre Scott Ramsay and high scoring prop Douglas Goodall.

Undoubtedly however the backbone to the club, is occasional Second XV player, Mark Ritchie who has the unique distinction this season of playing second row, flanker, full back and centre. Through his dedication to the Chinese and pies, he has raised the bar for sportsman in Scotland, proving that you need neither good looks, physical ability or sporting talent to take part. He also claims to be the most famous person from the small Grampian town of Peterhead. Further to the notable contribution to the spirit and success of the club of Alan and Mark, the development and fast tracking of talent into the 1st XV is made possible by gifted, if not unfortunately injury prone, youngster Kevin Walker. Kevin bolsters the Penicuik forward pack but occasionally/frequently steps aside to allow the skills of his fellow back-row colleagues to shine. Not being one to monopolise the limelight, Kevin's input into the direction of the team's attitudes and development are made mostly from the touchline.

The teams are coached by Simon Cross, professional player with Edinburgh Rugby, with occasional help from his Edinburgh team mates.

Pencuik have made a fine start to the season and are currently third in the league and through to the third round of the national cup competition.
