William Irwin (boxer)

William Irwin (born May 20, 1968 in Niagara Falls, Ontario) is a retired boxer, who represented Canada at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. There he was stopped in the second round of the lightweight division (– 60 kg) by Ronald Chavez of the Philippines. A year earlier he won the bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba. Billy "the Kid" Irwin later had a successful professional career, establishing himself as a contender in the lightweight division. He retired from boxing after losing to Juan Diaz in 2005, his second unsuccessful world title challenge. His final record was 42(30)-6-0.
