Xilin Gol ( _mn. and agriculture.

Xilin Gol borders Mongolia to the north, Chifeng, Tongliao and Hinggan League to the east, Ulanqab to the west and Hebei's Chengde and Zhangjiakou cities to the south.

Xilin Gol is divided into two county-level cities, one county and nine banners:
*Xilinhot City (锡林浩特市), 15,758 km², 150,000 inhabitants, seat of government
*Erenhot City (二连浩特市), 450 km², 20,000 inhabitants;
*Dolon County (多伦县), 3,773 km², 100,000 inhabitants, administrative center: Dolon Nur (多伦淖尔镇);
*Abaga Banner (阿巴嘎旗), 27,495 km², approx. 40,000 inhabitants, administrative center: Biligtai (别力古台镇);
*Sonid Left Banner (苏尼特左旗), 33,469 km², approx. 30,000 inhabitants, administrative center: Mandalt (满都拉图镇);
*Sonid Right Banner (苏尼特右旗), 26,700 km², approx. 70,000 inhabitants, administrative center: Saihan Tal (赛汉塔拉镇);
*East Ujumqin Banner (东乌珠穆沁旗), 47,554 km², approx. 70,000 inhabitants, administrative center: Ulyastai (乌里雅斯太镇);
*West Ujumqin Banner (西乌珠穆沁旗), 22,960 km², approx. 70,000 inhabitants, administrative center: Balgar Gol (巴拉嘎尔高勒镇);
*Taibus Banner (太仆寺旗), 3,415 km², approx. 200,000 inhabitants, administrative center: Baochang (宝昌镇);
*Bordered Yellow Banner (镶黄旗), 4,960 km², approx. 30,000 inhabitants, administrative center: Xin Bulag (新宝拉格镇);
*Plain and Bordered White Banner (正镶白旗), 6,083 km², approx. 70,000 inhabitants, administrative center: Mingantu (明安图镇);
*Plain Blue Banner (正蓝旗), 9,963 km², approx. 80,000 inhabitants, administrative center: Shangdu (上都镇).
