William F. Walsh

William F. Walsh

William Francis Walsh (born July 11, 1912) was a Republican-Conservative member of the United States House of Representatives from New York.

Walsh was born in Syracuse, New York. He graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 1934 and received a master's degree from the University of Buffalo in 1949. He served in the United States Army from 1941 until 1946. He was elected mayor of Syracuse in 1961 and served until 1969. He was a delegate to the 1968 Republican National Convention. He was elected to Congress in 1972 and served from January 3, 1973 until January 3, 1979. He is currently living at his home on Otisco Lake and is surrounded by his loving family members and friends. He will be 96 years old in July.

He is the father of current congressman (of the same district) James T. Walsh who recently announced his retirement.
