KTTC (channel 10, 12 on cable, 36 digital) was the first television station to operate in Rochester, Minnesota and the third station in the state after KSTP-TV and WTCN-TV, coming online in 1953 with the callsign KROC-TV.

The station was launched by G. David Gentling, the son of KROC Radio owner Gregory P. Gentling. As KROC, the station carried programming from all four commercial networks of the 1950s: ABC, CBS, NBC, and DuMont [http://www.ellwanger.tv/collect/tvg/eds/old/nw.html] . It is Minnesota's third-oldest television station, and the oldest outside the Twin Cities.

The family operation eventually became the Southern Minnesota Broadcasting Company, though the TV station was sold to Quincy Newspapers, Inc. in 1976 and changed its name.

Today, the station shares studios with KXLT-TV channel 47, a Fox affiliate; and Signal Hill CW, the local CW affiliate available on cable and digital subchannel. "Signal Hill" denotes the studio location, at the northern-most point of Rochester, Minnesota, on the hill at the north end of Bandel Road, NW.

KTTC's transmitter is located very near the Iowa-Minnesota border in Ostrander, Minnesota, and reaches communities including Albert Lea, Minnesota, Austin, Minnesota, Mason City, Iowa, and Winona, Minnesota. The tower is shared with KROC-FM. Signal Hill CW is named after KTTC's studios and transmitter location.

KTTC can also be seen in Winona on K62EV channel 62, and in La Crosse, Wisconsin on W67CH channel 67. [http://www.fybush.com/sites/2006/site-060428.html]
