Blandford Stakes

The Blandford Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race in the Republic of Ireland open to thoroughbred fillies and mares which are three-years-old or above. It is run over a distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs (2,012 metres) at the Curragh, and it takes place annually in mid September.

The race was restricted to fillies and mares in 2001, prior to which colts and geldings were also eligible to run. The present race distance also dates back to 2001. Previously it had been 1 mile and 3 furlongs (2,213 metres) since 1994, before which it was 1 mile and 4 furlongs (2,414 metres). In 1999 the race was dropped to Group 3 level, but it regained its Group 2 status in 2004. Before 1999 it took place in mid October.
