state highway inWise County, Virginia , running west from U.S. Route 23 Business in Appalachia to the Lee County line, where it continues as State Route 606 to U.S. Route 421.The whole length of SR 68 , west from State Route 11 (now US 23 Business) near Appalachia to the county line, was added to the state highway system in 1928 as State Route 119. [CTB minutes|08-1928-02, page 13] It was renumbered as SR 68 in 1933.
SR 68 runs from the the county line to Appalachia alongside Pigeon Creek, running past Exeter, Lower Exeter, and Imboden. As SR 68 approaches Appalachia, the old alignment continued straight to U.S. Route 23 Business, while the current alignment curves left and right into State Route 160, using what had been SR 160 to get to US 23 Business. (SR 160 now ends at SR 68.)
