Jauharabad

Jauharabad is situated in Khushab District, Punjab, Pakistan. It lies 4km from Khushab city - however Jauharabad rather than Khushab is the district capital. Jauharabad has the distinct feature of being in the group of those cities of Pakistan which were developed according to proper plan. It was developed in 1953. According to the 1998 Census Jauharabad had a population of 39,477 people.

Overview

It is a combination of traditional plus modern ways of living where desert meets mountains. People are very friendly and extend their heritability to the visitors. It is surrounded by the Jhelum River, Thal Desert and Sakeser Mountains.

This city is named after Mulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar who was a great leader of Muslims of the Indian Sub continent.

A 50-70 MWT Plutonium Atomic Reactor (Military- Not under International Atomic Energy Agency Safeguard) is situated at Jauharabad. It is an industrial city of Pakistan. Kohinoor Sugar Mills, Sally Textile Mills, Pioneer Cement Mills are some prominent industrial set-ups at Jauharabad. Coal mines are also found in District Khushab.

Some excellent educational facilities/schools such as Dar-e-Arqam School, Fauji Foundation, District Public School, government technical Model high school, the Educators have branches in this city. Hi-Aims College of Commerce is doing tremendous work. It was the first college in the city to provide Commerce level at Bachelors level. There is a College "Government college". Girote Chowk and Girote City are famous places of District Khushab. Jauharabad has got only one Bazaar which is known as Main Bazaar.

Jauharabad and District Khushab are strategically very vital for Pakistan. At the east PAF Sargodha at 45 km distance is located in west Atomic energy plant about 20 km from Jauharbad; in south of Jauharabad is PAF base Sakesar. About 70 km in west, Chashma hydro power plant is located along with that Mianwali PAF base at about 75 km distance. Further the people of Jauharabad has great tendency to joining Pakistan army and people of this has served Pakistan army at various position. Jauharabad has raised some great men to serve the country such as Sarwar Bhatti Shaheed and Shazad Mahmood. Majority of people are highly educated and live in luxury. One of popular youth name is Zahid Sharjeel. He is a highly qualified young from Jauharabad. He is pioneer in Urdu Computing in Pakistan. He has written more than 25 books on computer.
