Royal Whip Stakes

The Royal Whip Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race in the Republic of Ireland open to thoroughbreds which are three-years-old or above. It is run over a distance of 1 mile 2 furlongs (2,012 metres) at the Curragh, and it takes place annually in August.

The race has been classed at Group 2 level since 1998, before which it held Group 3 status. The distance prior to 1995 was 1 mile 4 furlongs (2,414 metres).

Winners since 1987

* Blue Judge finished first in 1994 but was demoted to second place following a Stewards' Inquiry.
* The 2008 race was transferred to Leopardstown having been postponed at the Curragh due to waterlogging.
