Groveport Madison High School is a high school in Groveport, Ohio. The schools mascot is the Cruiser, a horse tamed by John Solomon Rarey.

In Early April of the 2007-2008 school year, the GM School District approved the hiring of 2 full-time security guards who change periodically at the building. The security members are from First Choice Security in Cincinnati.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

On Thursday, February 20th, 2008, a sophomore student individually began gathering signatures for a petition in efforts of bringing the Pledge of Allegiance back to the Groveport Madison High School. Approved by Principle Aric Thomas, the petition went from the 20th until the 24th and reached well over 400 signatures. Plans are being made for the pledge to return by the fall of the '08-'09 school year.

(09/05/2008 UPDATE) Petitioning has began again and the signatures are to be presented this coming Wednesday to the Board.

UPDDATE-(9/11/08) Today, on the 7th Anniversary of the September 11th attacks, the Pledge of Allegiance will begin to be said daily after being approved by the school board 9/10/08. The student responsible for the petition has plans of being the honorable pledge leader to start the new trend. No Current Approval has happened, however it is beleived to begin by the end of the week. False reports were brought back by local families who went to the meetings, and it is still unknown as to the progress. ABC 6 was at the board meeting, and is thought to possibly have an influence on the boards decision.

UPDATE-(9/27/08)As of now, The Pledge will begin to be said in each individual classroom starting on 10/01/2008. However, the school as a whole will not say it over the intercom.
