John (Jackie) Bray, known more formally as Jack Bray, was born in
Oswaldtwistle ,Lancashire on22 April 1909 and was an English football player who played in the left half position. He won 6 caps for England between 1934 and 1937.He played for Manchester City between 1929 and 1938 appearing 257 times and scoring 10 goals.He was a member of the side who were runners up in the 1933 FA Cup final and went on to take the cup in the following year. In 1936-37, he was a virtual ever-present as Manchester City took the
Football League title. His career was then interrupted byWorld War II .In 1947-48 he was manager of Watford and later became a coach at Nelson.
