nihongo|Abashiri|網走駅|abashiri-eki is a station of the Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaidō), located in Abashiri in Hokkaidō, Japan. It is the central railway station in the city. The limited express train "Okhotsk" and express train "Shiretoko" terminate at this station. Formerly, the Yūmō Line diverged from here, but the line was closed on March 19, 1987. Abashiri Station is first in an alphabetical list of Japanese railway stations (Zushi Station is last).

*Two sections with three lines in simple island platforms.
*The station has many facilities for business travellers. There is a Green Window (business hours: 5:30 am to 11 pm), automatic ticket machines, a travel centre (business hours: 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, days and public holidays)
*In order that the station be located on the edge of a river, a large flight of stairs was built at the station entrance.

Bus

*Abashiri Bus, Abashiri Kōtsū Bus, Akan Bus, Shari Bus and joint operating companies all operate to the station.
*The tourist information centre in Abashiri Station handles tickets for tour buses, etc.
*The bus stop for services to Higashi Mokoto (Abashiri Kōtsū Bus) does not have a number.

Hokkaidō Chūō Bus, JR Hokkaidō Bus and Abashiri Bus operate services from Abashiri Bus Terminal to Sapporo via Kushiro.

History

*October 51912: National Railroad Authority established Abashiri Station.
*September 151927: Railroad Ministry opened the Senmō Line (which later became the Senmō Main Line).
*December 11932: When the station moved into the present location, the original station was renamed the Seaside Abashiri Station (the freight depot).
*October 101935: Yūmō Main Line (later the Yūmō Line) opened.
*February 11984: (freight) Abolished the continuation of freight to Abashiri
*March 201987: Yūmō Line closed.
*April 11987: JR Hokkaidō received control of Abashiri Station following privatisation of Japanese National Railways
