Captain Wonder is a villain who was created by combining Doctor Psycho and Steve Trevor. He battled the Pre-Crisis Wonder Woman and was a love interest to the original Silver Swan

Character History

Doctor Psycho discovered he could use ectoplasm, the substance found in the spirit world, and materialize it on Earth in whatever form he willed.

He eventually discovered he could use Steve Trevor as a medium. After capturing Trevor, he used a machine to draw ectoplasm from Trevor's mind in the form of Trevor's idealized, super-powered fantasy image of himself. Doctor Psycho inhabited the ectoplasmic form and battled Wonder Woman using the name Captain Wonder.

As Captain Wonder, Psycho fell in love with the Silver Swan (Helen Alexandros), an ugly young woman, whom the vindictive god Mars had transformed into a super-powered beauty. Both Captain Wonder and Silver Swan were defeated by Wonder Woman and eventually reverted back to their original forms.

Captain Wonder returns for one more battle against Wonder Woman, and teams with Silver Swan, Cheetah and Angle Man against Etta Candy (whom they wrongly believe is Wonder Woman).

Captain Wonder has not appeared after the events in "Crisis on Infinite Earths".

Powers and Abilities

Created from the fantasies of Steve Trevor, Captain Wonder has similar powers as Wonder Woman,based on his fantasy only more intense (i.e., stronger, faster, etc.).Super strength and amazing speed.True flight as opposed to the Amazonian flight- which is to glide on air currents.He was shown to have amazonian bracelets BUT as to whether they functioned is another story. He was able to take mental control of BOTH Wonder Woman's invisible plane and her golden lasso of truth- BOTH not produced by this ectoplasmic construct.He might also have adopted her weaknesses too- based on Pre Crisis- if her bracelets were chained she lost her phenomenal strength. If her bracelets were removed she would become insane- like Earth 3's Super Woman.Because Captain Wonder is in fact a chauvinistic fantasy it is more then likely he imagined all her powers and none of her weaknesses.
