Martin Hanlin was born in Glasgow. He formed and played drums in the Scottish band The Silencers (band). Hanlin recorded two albums with The Silencers (band) the debut album A Letter From St. Paul and the follow-up A Blues for Buddah.
Hanlin left and went on to become manager to Scottish artists Carol Laula and Murmer before moving to America and becoming a successful music publisher at Hamstein records. There he worked with artists Sheryl Crow and ZZ Top.
Hanlin returned to the U.K and set up GMW Entertainment Group a music publishing company. He also went on to produce albums for Candy Dulfer.
