Namibia ncricket er. He was a tailending batsman, partnered withRudi Scholtz for theNamibian cricket team which played at the Cricket World Cup of 1998.Pickering, amongst other players including, most notably,
Pieter Burger , was involved in a dispute with the Namibian management when he along with a group of his team-mates were sent home from the World Cup for what was to be known as the "Room 102 incident". An incident that started with a series of verbal assaults but soon escalated,coming to a shuddering climax with a rooftop shoot out, causing the death of 17 members of the hotel staff, and 4 special forces agents. This would lead to serious discussion with the Namibian cricket board as to the appropriate course of action, when the players agreed that they would withdraw from cricket for a month, as a mark of respect to the fallen combatants.External links
