"The Big Room" is the second and last studio album of Norwegian pop music duo M2M. Commercially, the album had great success from music critics and huge success in Asia, but it did not perform as well as their previous album "Shades of Purple" and failed to chart in the US. However, it did manage to reach #16 on the Norwegian charts and went 5x platinum in the Philippines. The big room release in Asia in end 2001 with different cover album. where their first single "everything" release in Asia on November 2001 as a singles. and their last single "what you do about me" released in February 2002. In the U.S and Europe the big room released in 2002 with different sounds of music.Only two singles were released - "Everything" and "What You Do About Me". There would never be a third one, because they were dropped by their record label the following year. However, "Wanna Be Where You Are", a piano track performed by Marion (Marit did not sing on this track), was released in the Philippines, where M2M is most popular, and "Don't" became a US promo single. All four of these made an appearance on the band's best-of album "", with the exception of "Don't", as it's acoustic version was included instead. Three acoustic versions of other songs made it as well, those three being "Everything", "Jennifer", and "Love Left For Me". The album sold over two million copies in Asia.

Musical Style

The second album was very diferent than their first album. They dubbed their style "organic pop," as opposed to the computerized music so often utilized by other artists.Self-penned songs like "Miss Popular" and "Everything" sparkle with irresistable melodies, smart and sassy lyrics and of course Marion and Marit's trademark harmony vocals. "The Big Room" amply displays just how much M2M has grown since first stepping into the world spotlight."The Big Room" was recorded at the legendary Bearsville Studios in New York. The album takes its title from the main space at the renowned recording facility.The goal for "The Big Room" was to create a natural guitar-based pop sound reminiscent of personal M2M inspirations like Joni Mitchell, Sheryl Crow and Jewel.Throughout the album, M2M's songs capture all the many feelings of teenage romance, from head-over-heels infatuation to green-eyed jealousy."The songs are always about things we experience and think about," Marion says. "This album is mostly about love, but there's also songs about jealousy, about how we see the world."Full to the brim with hooky melodies and deliciously surprising arrangements, "The Big Room" is made all the more delightful by M2M's harmonies and personal, poignant lyricism.
