The San Antonio Wings was a team that played in the
World Football League for the1975 season.San Antonio was the only city representing theWFL that did not have a team in 1974. The financially-troubledFlorida Blazers were relocated toSan Antonio, Texas including 16 former players of the Blazers.Among the
Florida Blazers players' that participated in the league's onlyWorld Bowl championship game to join theSan Antonio Wings were running backJim Strong , tight endLuther Palmer and linebackerLarry Grantham . Grantham retired as a player but joined the Wings coaching staff. Thehead coach wasPerry Moss , who was a former head coach ofMarshall and anNational Football League assistant coach. VeteranNFL quarterbackJohn Walton started for the Wings and led theWFL in passing, in 1975. TheSan Antonio Wings hosted their home games atAlamo Stadium , which seated 25,000.San Antonio won the WFL'sSummer Title and finished overall with a 7-6 record (winning all seven games at home, but losing all six games on the road) before theWorld Football League folded onOctober 22 ,1975 .External links
