Evoldo

Evoldo

Evoldo, a fictional character from the Land of Oz book series, is the late king of Ev, a monarchy across the Deadly Desert from Oz. He is discussed and pictured in "Ozma of Oz" (1907), but has died before the adventure takes place.

Evoldo is a cruel ruler, and acts with such extreme impetuosity that he might present a form of bipolar disorder. After purchasing Tik-Tok, the clockwork man, and giving him his name, Evoldo sold his wife and ten children (five boys, five girls) to the Nome King in exchange for a long life. Later, regretting this bargain, he locked Tik-Tok in a stone chamber and committed suicide by jumping into the Nonestic Ocean.
