TAFE Tasmania is an
Australian tertiary body that is the Tasmanian division of the Australian state-based Technical and Further Educationsystem. It includes two institutes, the Institute of TAFE Tasmania and the Drysdale Institute.
The Institute of TAFE Tasmania (including the Drysdale Institute) was established as a legal authority under the TAFE Tasmania Act
1997, and began operating as a State-wide training organisation on 1 January 1998. The previous TAFE administration was regionally-based - this shift aimed to enrich relationships with industry and the community, and to facilitate a more effective use of resources. TAFE Tasmania plays a part in the development of lifelong
learningfor Tasmanians. As part of the national TAFE network it is the largest registered trainingorganisation in the State, and delivers vocational educationand training at an international standard.
Products and services are delivered through 18 programs operating from over 20 training sites. Flexible delivery is an integral feature of TAFE Tasmania, with training delivered in the home, at the workplace, at Online Access Centres via computer, or at TAFE campuses. Within this changing environment, the integration of learning and work plays a major part. The enhanced focus on generic skills and learning at work has increasingly influenced the type and range of partnerships the Institute has developed with local enterprise and community clients.
