(1988)"Another Weekend" is the name of a
1988 hit single by British pop groupFive Star , peaking at #18 on theUK singles chart, but reaching #1 on the UK Dance chart. In the US, the single reached #23. It was a return to the charts for the group after a short break to record their fourth LP "Rock The World". Opting for a harder edge, leather clad rock sound, this change in music style shocked many fans and critics alike. The band had been accused of removing themselves from their unique style of pop which had made them famous. All the women in the group had hair extensions for their new image, with lead singer Denise opting for long blond extensions. The lively video clip shows the group dancing to a rapturous crowd on a small flood-lit club stage. Doris is pursued by a hippy looking guy on a motorbike outside in the street at night, while Denise gets told off by a police officer (supposedly for loitering), and Stedman having rats crawl over his feet as he stands beneath a street light.
All these changes would eventually prove a mistake career wise for Five Star as the next few singles would not fare as well as previous releases. The "Rock The World" album fared well (reaching UK #17), but did not have the staying power of previous albums.
