Three Kingdoms era ofChina . He served as an advisor along with other scholars likeZhang Zhao ,Zhuge Jin ,Gu Yong etc.Prior to the
Battle of Red Cliffs , the officials servingSun Quan were locked into an argument whether to surrender toCao Cao and his mighty army or to resist and fight back. Bu Zhi, along with Zhang Zhao and the scholars, advocated surrender while the military officers argued that they should fight back with all their might.Later,
Zhuge Liang arrived in Eastern Wu and had a debate with the scholars of Wu, defeating every single scholar who challenged him. Bu Zhi was one of them. In the end, Zhuge Liang managed to convince Sun Quan to fight against Cao Cao and not surrender. Sun Quan drew his sword and sliced off one of the table's legs with it, then he said "Whoever who dares to speak of surrender shall end up like this table!". Thus, Bu Zhi and the other scholars had no choice but to submit to Sun Quan's decision to fight back.ee also
