Patient Porky

"Patient Porky" is a Warner Brothers "Looney Tunes" theatrical cartoon, starring Porky Pig. It was directed by Bob Clampett, written by Warren Foster, and scored by Carl W. Stalling. "Patient Porky" was released on September 14, 1940. The cartoon features the Bugs Bunny prototype, who has a mere cameo.

Plot

The cartoon begins with a tour of a hospital. Porky checks in, with a stomach ache, caused by overeating at his birthday party. Instead of a real doctor, he encounters a patient posing as "Dr. Chilled-Air" (a reference to "Dr. Kildare"), who is eager to operate on him with a saw.

This cartoon is the fifth and last appearance of the prototype Bugs Bunny, although Bugs "per se" had debuted 29 days before in "A Wild Hare" against Elmer Fudd. Also, it features the early design from "A Wild Hare".

Censorship

*With the exception of the broadcast during "The Bob Clampett Show", Cartoon Network (and Nickelodeon) edits the scenes of a caricature of Rochester, from radio's "The Jack Benny Program" as an elevator operator.
